Dove Service.

Our vision at the Dove Service is to enable children and young people of Staffordshire and Cheshire who are experiencing bereavement, life changing illness or significant loss, to receive the highest quality of care and support to understand their grief and cope with their loss. Our counsellors will work creatively with you to find ways of supporting you to express your emotions, and will help you to explore how you feel about what is happening in your world.

If you want to spend your session chatting about what is going on for you then that’s entirely up to you, but you can also use your other skills – like drawing, painting, writing – or you might choose to use other materials in the counselling room to help you express how you feel.  We have lots of stuff that you can use to do that, like a dolls house, sand trays, puppets etc.  But because it’s your session, and your time, and your feelings, you are the one who decides.

Stoke City Foundation.
RISE (Resilience, Identity and Self Esteem)

This programme provides longer term individual support and intensive mentoring for vulnerable young people (11-17 years old) with multiple barriers and risk factors. We believe in the transformative power of positive relationships as a foundation to helping young people make and maintain change and wish to provide a range of interventions to increase resilience, identity and self-esteem to enable some of the more vulnerable young people we work with to have the best possible start in life. Vulnerable and exploited young people often lack the voice or family support required and in many cases will repeat cycles of deprivation and exploitation with their own children as they grow up.

Key Aims:

  • Reduce the exploitation of young people through developing resilience, identity, self esteem
  • Provide weekly support at school, home and in community over an academic year
  • Engage and retain young people to enable them to explore and challenge their previously held negative views, beliefs and lifestyles.
  • Enable young people to develop and embed coping strategies and problem solving skills.
  • Support young people with Adverse Childhood Experiences, Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH).
